TSUNAMI WARNINGS
Tutukaka Marina has put a new plan in place for staff, liveaboard tenants, users of the Marina and the general public. Obviously, Tsunami’s and other emergency situations can strike at any time. Signage alerting people to evacuation sites will be posted around Marina property. In partnership with Civil Defense, Coastguard, the local Fire Brigade and both Councils, Tutukaka Marina hopes to bring awareness to all users of the Marina and keep them safe. Don’t forget our new Defibrillator by the Marina office doorway!!

EWOF’s (Electrical Warrant of Fitness)
The automated reminder system for EWOF’s (Electrical Warrant of Fitness) and Boat Insurance is up and running. All you need to do is send through by post, email or in person your Boat Insurance and, if you ever want to plug in to shore
power at the Marina, your EWOF certificates for marina staff to enter into the reminder system. It is a requirement for the boat owner to submit these to the Marina office.

FAN WORM
A recent Fan worm find in the Opua area is a reminder for all boats that wish to go away for a considerable amount of time (1 or more months) over the summer period to have a clean hull for other Northland destinations. The 6/1 rule is
in place for all
Northland Marina’s.
Tutukaka Marina will
ask those local boats to
wash down before
returning. Any questions
regarding this, please
speak with Marina staff, who are working VERY hard to keep Fan worm and other marine pests out of Tutukaka Marina.

SECURITY
The Marina has upgraded the lighting throughout the main carpark, commercial wharf, Poor Knights Garden and along K-M Piers. Included in this upgrade has been another HD camera looking over the busy K-Pier area.
More camera installations are planned, including a possible
LPR (license plate recognition) camera. This would benefit all businesses and users of the Tutukaka Marina zone.
Days Away Credits:
The Marina staff have calculated Days Away credits for all Berth Holders from last season. The calendar is relied upon for accurate credit figures and that is a reminder that not only is it required to let the Marina office know if your berth will be vacant overnight, it helps with your Days Away calculations. Feel free to ring the office for credit totals; they will be set against any outstanding fees.

CONSTANT WATER SOURCE
The Tutukaka Marina Management Trust, along with the Whangarei District Council and Northland Regional Council, have been working very hard to secure a consistent and reliable water source. It has not been easy, but water is
important to us all: whether you are
a high-user, such as a commercial
operator or just a once-a-month
recreational user. The consents are
approved and the pumping and
storage system is almost in place.
This has been a major goal of the Trust to provide healthy and plentiful drinking water for all Marina users.

FRIENDLY REMINDER
A friendly reminder that Interest can and will be charged for over-due accounts. If you have any questions about your account, don’t hesitate to contact the Marina Office as a little communication goes a long way!

BOOK-A-BERTH
The improved Tutukaka Marina website is up and running! On this site you can:
Book a berth, Find out about Channel warnings, Get Links to important Marine-related agencies, Read up on our Health and Safety policies, Check live webcams for the Harbour entrance conditions, Access the Tutukaka Marina and Northland Regional Council newsletters…. and much, much more.

MARINA AWARDS
NZMOA (New Zealand Marina Operators Association) has introduced the inaugural Marina Awards. There will be 3 categories considered: Marina of the Year, Best Environmental Initiative and Outstanding Contribution by an individual to the Marina Industry. Tutukaka Marina is
proud to have
submitted for the
Environmental
Initiative category! The
Trust and staff have
worked hard to
introduce initiatives
such as: more effective
Recycling program reducing landfill amounts, Oil filter and container recycling (picture above is actual shredded Oil
Containers), future Seabin program, Fan worm-free check from NRC and upgrade of fuel/oil spill kits. Winners will be announced in September of this year.

SWIPE CARDS - FOB's
The Trust is considering introducing Fob’s (the swipe card or dongle) again for Marina Users to access Toilet/Laundry/Library facilities. The past few years have seen the keypads used,
however this change might give staff more control on who are entering the private facilities of the Marina. If any change occurs, Marina users will be notified right away.

MARINA LIBRARY
Don’t forget about another great facility provided for you by the Tutukaka Marina Management Trust: the Tutukaka Marina Library! It might be small, but there is a large
selection of books. Remember: take a book, drop off a
book…
